It was on January 2, 1977 that two young men opened Budget Rent a Car of Nashua with six rental vehicles.  Those vehicles were American Motors cars such as the AMC Pacer, Gremlin, and Concord.  The owners had years of experience between them at major airport and local market rental operations with National Car Rental and also with Budget Rent a Car.  When they finally were able to write paychecks those checks were exactly for $50 each week.  As the business grew more cars and vans were added.   Chevrolet,  Ford, and Toyota were the inventory mainstay.  

From the very beginning the owners offered 24 hour delivery of the vehicle to area businesses, as well as pick up of customers from their homes, business, dealerships, or hotels.  This service was unheard of in the industry and our business grew quickly because of it.  Note that we still offer this service over five decades later! 

 In 1978 a third partner came on board.  This third partner also had experience at major airports in NYC, Manhattan, Upstate NY airport and local market operations, Boston Logan Airport, and Downtown Boston.  He would become the catalyst for expansion.  Areas of expansion and subsequent franchises added included:

West Rockingham County NH

East Rockingham County NH

Andover MA

Bristol County MA

Middlesex County MA

Worcester County MA

Airport locations were New Bedford MA (EWB) and Portsmouth NH (PSM).  

It was at this point, and with 9 Budget franchises and up to 12 locations, we became the largest Budget Rent a Car franchisee in New England. 

In 2006 Budget Corporation made an offer for all 9 franchises that could not be refused. Surprisingly, after its sale to the corporation, we were asked if we would retain the Nashua NH franchise.  The original partner said yes and remains to this day operating this location with all the unique services as the day the business was started in 1977.
